Barbara Mowry was appointed chair of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City Board of Directors on Jan. 1, 2013. Before joining the Kansas City head office Board, she served on the Denver Branch Board of Directors and the Bank’s Economic Advisory Council. She is the chief executive officer at GoreCreek Advisors a consulting firm focused on advising CEO’s and Boards of Directors on business strategy and innovation.
Ms. Mowry previously was senior vice president at Oracle Corporation. Prior to its acquisition by Oracle, she was president and chief executive officer of Silver Creek Systems. She also served as chairman and chief executive officer at Requisite Technology, senior vice president of Customer Satisfaction at Comcast, founder and chief executive officer of the Mowry Company and as an officer at United Airlines. She is an experienced executive, having served in a variety of industries as an officer in three Fortune 500 companies, and as an intrapreneur and entrepreneur in both business to business and business to consumer oriented companies. She has led companies through rapid growth, raised venture capital, bought and sold companies, and guided international expansion. Spearheading the launch of new products and developing solutions that focus on customer and business success has kept her at the forefront of innovation.
Ms. Mowry has extensive experience on boards of directors including The Kauffman Foundation, Gaiam, and Real Goods Solar. She is a member of the Board of Overseers of the Carlson School at the University of Minnesota and is on the Board of Directors for the Colorado Chapter of the National Association of Corporate Directors. Ms. Mowry holds a bachelor’s degree from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, and an MBA from the University of Minnesota.
