FEDERAL RESERVE BANK OF KANSAS CITY CHOOSES
CONSTRUCTION MANAGER FOR
NEW HEADQUARTERS
The
Federal Reserve Bank of
Kansas City
has chosen a construction
manager for its new headquarters. Subject to final contract negotiations, the
Bank selected J.E. Dunn Construction.
"We are pleased to have strong partners in J.E. Dunn and the
architectural team of Ellerbe Becket - Pei Cobb Freed working on our new Bank
headquarters," said Thomas M. Hoenig, president of the Federal Reserve Bank
of
Kansas City
.

to build a world class facility to serve this region."
J.E.
Dunn Construction, established in 1924, is Kansas City-based and the largest
commercial contractor in the
Kansas City
area.
Dunn brings to the project its experience in completing projects such as
the Sprint World Headquarters in
Overland Park
and the Charles Evans Whittaker
United States Courthouse in
Kansas City
,
Mo.
The
construction manager will provide advice to the owner about construction
methods, materials, materials availability, and construction cost estimates, and
will oversee construction of the facility.
In
May, the Bank selected Ellerbe Becket Architects of Kansas City in association
with Pei Cobb Freed & Partners of
New York
.
Zimmer Real Estate Services is serving as the Project Advisor to the
Bank. In June, the Bank received approval to purchase 15.7 acres south of
Liberty Memorial for a new headquarters facility that will contain approximately
600,000 square feet. Plans call for
construction to begin in late 2004 or early 2005, and for the completion of the
project in late 2007 or early 2008.
The
Federal Reserve Bank of
Kansas City
serves the Tenth Federal
Reserve District, which encompasses the western third of
Missouri
,
Kansas
,
Nebraska
,
Oklahoma
,
Wyoming
,
Colorado
, and the northern half of
New Mexico
. Of the Bank's 1,600 District
employees, 1,100 work in
Kansas City
.
As part of the nation’s central bank, the Bank participates in setting
national monetary policy, supervising and regulating numerous commercial banks
and bank holding companies, and providing check processing and other payments
services to depository institutions and the U.S. Treasury.
