Colorado Personal Financial Literacy Summit

The purpose of the Personal Financial Literacy Summit is to bring together district leadership in order to support the implementation of personal financial literacy expectations as part of Colorado’s newly revised mathematics and economics standards. District personnel responsible for implementation are encouraged to attend, however space is limited to 2 participants from each district. The registration window will be from March 1-March 26. After March 26, registration will be open on as a space is available basis for additional district administrators interested in attending.

The agenda includes an orientation to the new expectations in Personal Financial Literacy, a keynote address from Mark Snead, Assistant Vice President of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, facilitated discussions regarding implementation implications, and scholarship drawings.

Money Smart Week of Greater Kansas City is an annual community outreach initiative designed to promote and encourage financial awareness through classes, workshops and the delivery of various resources during the week of April 24-30, 2010. Through the coordinated effort of financial education providers in the Kansas City metropolitan area, this week-long event is an opportunity for the public to receive financial education information and resources that can assist in making positive financial decisions. It is also a chance for financial education providers to showcase their work or services in a cooperative, concentrated approach.

Jump$tart Your Money Week is a public awareness initiative made for you. It is aimed at building your financial knowledge so you can deal with your own money more quickly, confidently and shrewdly. Money Smart Colorado

Money Smart Colorado is a public awareness campaign designed to help consumers better manage their personal finances. This is achieved through the collaboration and coordinated effort of organizations across the state including businesses, financial institutions, schools, libraries, not-for-profits, government agencies and the media. These partners come together once a year to stress the importance of financial literacy, inform consumers where they can get help, and provide free educational seminars and activities throughout the week. Programming is offered to all demographics, income levels and covers all facets of personal finance from establishing a budget to first time home buying to estate planning.

Get ready for the new Colorado state personal financial literacy standards with a workshop hosted by the members of the Colorado Jump$tart coalition!  This workshop will focus on the concepts and principles involved in managing personal finances. Free classroom activities and materials will be provided; plus the opportunity for optional ½ hour graduate credit in both Econ and Math.
